On Saturday morning I went to an outdoor wedding. It was the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to! The ceremony and reception were held under a tent the size of a small building, and it was decorated in a floral/rustic theme. There was also an area filled with yard games and this cute silk flower wall where guests could take photos. I was one happy fashion blogger when I spotted this thing!
To help me figure out what to wear, I did some dress code research online. I was about 12 years old at the time of the one and only other outdoor wedding I’ve been to, and my mom basically dressed me because I was a tomboy and didn’t like dresses. Shocking, I know!
I found two dress codes that both felt appropriate. Formal beach/resort wear, and lounge (not the kind that means you’re hanging out in joggers at home). The first seemed too formal because this was a morning outdoor wedding. So, I thought the second would be best since we would be served brunch and this dress code states that it is best for a nice brunch.
Thanks to my research, I felt quite comfortable wearing the dress that I chose with it’s hem ending above the knee and having a simple yet cute design. When styling this dressy, day-time look I wanted to stay away from anything too flashy and glam, so I chose to wear a demure vintage necklace and a small quilted shoulder bag. The clear block heels I chose to wear might be a little on the flashy side, but the only other black heels I have are stilettos, and every girl knows stilettos and grass don’t mix. I have quite the tendency to over dress anyway, so I guess I wouldn’t be me if that habit didn’t show up somewhere in my outfit.
