For Christmas Eve, I’ll be rewearing this amazing micro buffalo plaid dress that I wore for Christmas Day last year. Over the fall I worked with my seamstress to alter this dress to fit me perfectly. To get this dress to fit my incredibly short torso, I had her cut the skirt off and re-attach it a few inches higher on the bodice so the waist of the dress would fall at my natural waist. The dress comes with a drawstring waist and I decided to have her turn it into an elasticated waist. Once I saw the drawstring removed, I realized I could keep it and have a matching hair ribbon to go with my outfit! It adds such a cute, girly touch (see picture below).
I kept some of the accessories the same, like the tights and boots, but added a necklace to this look that I wish I had last year. It’s the Red (Taylor’s Version) Locket Necklace. I didn’t quite get it shipped to me in time to wear it with this dress last year, so it was an obvious choice to wear it this year. I made a slight adjustment to the necklace by switching out the chain. The one it came with was a bright gold, while the locket itself has an antique finish. So, I took some pliers and opened the jump-ring to slide out the chain, and replaced it with a thrifted chain necklace that happens to have a similar finish. The chain I used is also a few inches shorter than the original, which I much prefer with my short torso.
