Nails of the Week

IMG_5378
Lately I’ve been feeling inspired by tweed fabric and thought I would try to paint a manicure with a tweed type of pattern in the design.

To paint these nails, I first used a light grey as a base, then sponged on a darker grey around the edges of each nail. I explain how I do this type of sponging here. Then I painted on thin lines of glittery gold on my thumbs, pointer, and pinky fingers, followed by black, and then white. Using nail tape, I painted on five glittery gold stripes on my middle and ring fingers. Once everything was dry, I used top coat to adhere a single large pearl decal to the base of each tweed nail, and random amounts of small pearl decals and gold caviar beads to the gold stripes on my middle two fingers.
