Outfit of the Day

IMG_9942
I wore this outfit out to meet up with a friend for coffee last week. I was a tad more overdressed than what I was planning to be, but my original plans for the outfit kind of fell through. I was supposed to have another photography club meeting last week as well and we were going to go out shooting together for the first time. I thought I’d also use the time to get some blog work done too by wearing this outfit. But nope, it started to rain while I was getting ready, so my lofty dreams failed. Since I had to change my plans with when and where I’d wear this outfit, I decided I’d at least find the time to go to the nature park (where we were originally going to go shooting) to take these outfit pictures by the water. So worth it!

Now that I’ve told my tragic story, I thought I’d share a styling secret with you all when it comes to wearing this particular Free People dress. So I’m really short, 4′ 9″ to be exact, and low cut dresses can be drastically low on me. This dress is not only low cut, but it is also unlined, like many of the less expensive Free People dresses. It took some brief trial and error when I bought this dress last year, but I figured out a great solution for all the short gals out there to wear this dress. I first put on a v-neck tank top with adjustable straps and make the straps almost as long as I can so the neck line hits me under my bust line. The neckline should sit just below where the v-neck of the dress will start. Then I wear a deep v style bralette over the top of the tank top. This combination has always worked great under my dress and I have never felt the need to go out and buy a slip just for this dress. But, if you do want to go the more traditional route, this is the best option I found for a slip with a deeper v-neck that might work.
