Yes, it’s that time of year again every blogger goes crazy for, the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! The only sale of it’s kind were you can buy new fall clothes on sale before its listed at full price. Early access for card holders starts today and goes though to the 19th. Then it will be open to the public on the 20th and lasts until August 5th.
Now, before we take a look at what I bought, I want to share with you the list of items I was looking for while shopping the sale (but if you do want to dive right in, skip down to My Purchases).
First on my list is the size 4 over the knee or up to the knee boots in black or grey. I’d eventually like to get some in both colors, but I’m only looking for one right know.
I’m also looking for grey ankle boots. I bought a pair of black ankle boots three years ago that I love and still wear, but noticed I could use something lighter too.
Next on my list is a chunky knit cardigan that isn’t too long or oversized on me, and preferably does not have dropped shoulder seams.
Lastly, I will also be looking for fall basics that can also be worn into winter.
My Purchases:
Topshop Long Open Front Cardi: Now $49.90 – will be $75, comes in 4 colors
Once again I got a little swept up with the number one item every other blogger is buying, and decided to give this cardigan a try. It has dropped shoulder seams and might be too oversized on me, but its pink and looks so cozy! I wear a lot of black and grey in the cooler months, so if this fits I’m hoping it will brighten up my fall/winter color palette.
1.State Preete Bootie: Now $99.90 – will be $149.95, comes in 4 colors
I found these ankle boots just within my $100 shoe price limit and I hope they work out for me because they’re the only booties I like (that I can afford). If these booties and the pink cardigan both work out, I’d like to pair them together with my pearl embellished jeans. How cute?!
Free People January Tee: Now $31.90 – will be $48, comes in 7 colors
This tee has actually been around for about a year now (about 50% of the items are this year), and since I’ve heard such great things about I thought I’d take this opportunity to try it out. I think I’ll be wear this a lot with leggings and my moto jacket from last year’s sale.
BP. Ruffled Floral Print Jumpsuit: Now $42.90 – will be $65
I’ve never bought a jumpsuit before, but saw another blogger trying it on this morning and fell in love. I took a gamble and bought it in xx-small (they sold out of x-small). I have a small chest and need an xx-small for the top half, but usually wear I larger size for bottoms. I kind of wanted to get an xx-small anyway because I have small shoulders and the straps aren’t adjustable. Fingers crossed.
Lastly I’d like to include these Blondo Danny Over The Knee Waterproof Boots: Now $169.90 – will be $259.95, comes in 2 colors
I didn’t buy them because they’re out of my size, but if they get re-stocked and if I end up returning a few things I think I’ll go for them since they were the main thing on my list.
Tips:
When shopping this sale I like to give myself a spending limit so I don’t get too carried away. Because this is the best sale out there, mine is about $200. I usually end up buying more then that at first then return whatever doesn’t work out.
Remember Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns, always, so if you want to try something, it might be best to go for it. These pieces could be on sale again at the end of the season, but if they are, the size and color choices get pretty picked over.
Make a list. Whether it’s a mental list or written down, I find that having a list helps to keep you focused on what you need in your fall wardrobe vs. what you want. You also might want to account for one miscellaneous item because it is so easy to get sidetracked and caught up in the sale.
Look for shoes first. Shoes go the fastest in this sale, so if that’s on your list put it at the top. After that, you should look for jackets and sweaters. Moto jackets and cardigans always sell out quick!
If you can, use your triple points and Nordstrom Notes.
Lastly, if something is sold out, don’t get too discouraged. Many items sporadically get re-stocked throughout the sale, so be patient.
